Essential items and supplies to be dropped off for the residents will continue as follows:

-Please do not drop off any upackaged food, flowers or plants

-Please remember to ensure that all such items are commercially packaged with non-porous material so we are able to disinfect them before bringing the items to the neighbourhoods.

-There are bins between the double doors at the front entrrance.   Please leave your items in a labeled disposable bag in one of the bins.  Staff may greet you at the door or you can use the buzzer on the right hand wall to let us know that items have been dropped off.

Staff, residents, families and volunteers very much like on big family and we are all missing those families and volunteers but we are making the best of it and supporting one another.

November 9, 2020

As we are entering the second wave of COVID-19 it seems to be intense and causing higher rates of infections.  The measures, including essential visitor restrictions, are critical in protecting the health of our residents/tenants  who are most vulnerable to COVID-19.  We are working extremely hard to keep our building free of any infection including COVID-19.

As part of our continued efforts to keep the residents and tenants safe the following new measures are in place for better screening of visitors and staff:

- Installation of smart thermal and mask screening devices in all entrances. They are currently being integrated with our security system.  All smart scanners are already operational with integrated immediate smart alert system.

- Four full time emplyees added to our team to provide more visiting opportunities, enhanced infection control and added manual screening of staff and visitors.

- Change of air filters in our extensive filtration system in the entire building.

- Implementation of UV light disinfection during room/suite turnover.

While these measures must remain in place, we are trying our best to provide meaningful interactions between families and residents.  We recognise the importance of socialization and family visits, as well as the adverse effects of prolonged isolation on our seniors.

We will continue to work hard to explore new ideas so that we are able to achieve a better visiting experience while maintaining the safety of the residents, staff and families.  At the same time, we are tryng to abide by the rules set out by the Provincial Health Officer.

We are now able to offer indoor visits with ONE (designated) adult faimily member in the 2nd floor TV lounge and in the second floor lounge adjacent to the 27th Avenue entrance to the building.  Access to the designated visiting areas will be provided by the assisting staff member/s through the black gate at the top of the driveway and the oudoor patio facing the driveway.

We strictly adhere to the one designated visitor policy as directed by the Provincial Health Officer.  We strongly encourage all families to comply  with the one designated visitor policy and the designated visitor must complete self screening every time before visiting their loved one.

We strongly recomment the self screening at least two days ahead of your scheduled visit.  If you find any of the symptons mentioned - Headache, fever, rash, diarrhea, runny nose, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath - Please inform the visitation scheduler to cancel the visit and contact 811 to get further directions.

If there is a need to change the designated visitor:

- Please provide two weeks notice to the scheduler.

- The future designated visitor must self screen for any of the above mentioned symptoms in those two weeks.

-The present designated visitor may continue to visit during the two week notice period.

- In exceptional circumstances the two week notice may be revisited.

In order to maintain our safety measures, we expect the following from the visiting family member:

- Visitor must follow the direction provided by the assisting staff members.

- Visitor must wear a medical grade face mask that meets ASTM International and ISO (or equivalent) performance requirements for bacterial/particulate filtration efficiency. If you do not have one, one will be provided to you.

- Visitor must leave within assigned visiting time

- Touching or hugging the resident during your visit is strictly prohibited.  Any such attempt will result in the immediate end of the visit with the possibility of cancellation of all future visits.

- Visitor must follow all recommended safety measures with the recommended respiratory etiquette at all times.

- Assisting staff member/s will actively monitor the visits and at any time they feel there is any risk to the safety of the staff, resident or family member they will have the full authority to stop the proceedings immediately and ensure the safety of the resident, staff and visitor.
