Re: Revisiting Visitors access other than essential visitors

We know that it is hard for families to be separated due to COVID-19 prevention and control measures. Some measures were put in place in the past including essential visitor restrictions, which turned out to be critical in protecting our most vulnerable seniors.

We have worked very hard during the last 12 months to protect our residents, tenants, staff and families. With the dedicated effort from our staff and management we were successful in keeping all of our residents and tenants free of COVID-19. We appreciate all the efforts of staff and families during some testing times.

While some of the measures like hand hygiene, use of mask, self screening and minimum exposure to enclosed crowded spaces must remain in place, there is an opportunity for us to ease/modify visitor restrictions so the visits can be more interactive as per new provincial guidelines. At the same time, we strongly believe that a face time visit is a much more secure way to connect with your loved one and should be utilised instead of an in person visit unless you feel that it is absolutely necessary to visit in person.

We are now able to offer the indoor and patio visits as recommended by the Provincial Health Officer from 0900hrs.-1830hrs. everyday. Family members are nowallowed to visit in their loved one’s rooms without any supervision.

We strongly believe that visiting family members will take all recommended precautions while visiting their loved one including thorough hand hygiene and use of recommended face mask at all times.

In order to maintain the safety of our residents and tenants, we expect the following from the visiting family member.

  • Visitor must follow the direction provided by the assisting staff members.

  • Touching or hugging the resident during your visit should be done with extra

    caution or avoided.

  • Visitor must follow all recommended safety measures with the recommended

    respiratory etiquette at all times.

  • Please limit your interaction with your family member only. Please stay inside

the resident’s own room or in a designated visiting area at all times.

  • Please do not touch or interact with any other resident other than your loved

    one.

  • Although there is no time limit put in place for the visits at this time, please try to keep your visit short to minimize exposure.

  • Please leave the facility immediately after your visit.

  • Please keep the mask on at all times while you are inside the facility including entrance door.

  •  We have following measures in place to facilitate the safe family visits:

  • Resident/tenant and visitors must not have any symptoms of illness, even mild symptoms.

  • Residents/tenants and staff are screened twice-daily.

  • All visitors need to self-screen for illness before they arrive by asking themselves:

Do I have a fever, cough, shortness of breath or do I feel unwell?

If you answer yes, please do not visit at this time. Every visitor will be screened before each visit.

  • Please maintain social distancing while inside the building and before entering in the main entrance.

  • The building can only be accessed from the main entrance to ensure better screening.

  • All the door handles and high touch surfaces are disinfected multiple times throughout the day.

These visits will continue as recommended by the Provincial Health Officer as long as our home remains free of a COVID-19 outbreak.

You can also continue to stay connected with your loved one by phone, e-mail and letter.

The health and safety of our residents and staff is our first priority, and we appreciate your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Amrinder Gill,
    Administrator
